Best value on the block

ALWYN VILJOEN gets his trucking heart pumping in the discounted JMC Vigus double cab

R260 K for a new luxury double cab with a 2,4 turbo diesel. Surely there is a printing error? I called Metro Cars, the only JMC dealer in Pietermaritzburg, to check.
“No error,” I was told. JMC had dropped the price in time for the festive
season. “The petrol Vigus LX 4x2 is even cheaper at R230 K.Would I like to test drive one?” Would I ever.Having sung the praisesof the JMCVigus4x4onthesepages,
I was keen to see if the 4x2 would have as comfortable a ride as the 4x4.
I had punished the Vigus 4x4 up the deeply rutted The Slope and over
KZN’s old railway roads, and was thoroughly impressed by both the ride
comfort and ability...READ MORE

It is no secret that there’s an Oriental bakkie invasion going down. Regular readers know full well that is happening – we’ve thrown more than just a bit of copy toward all that in the past. What is it – eight or ten years since those first shabby old Isuzu clones powered by hoary copy-Toyota lumps cobbled together out of a motley collection of dodgy fake parts in some So.....READ MORE

THE Chinese came and went. Not all of them, of course. Some, such GWM, stayed but we went though a period where it seemed as though everyone who had a used car dealership tried to become a distributor of some or other new Chinese vehicle in a bid to make a quick buck. Some were worse than others and even the Chinese government put its foot down when some vehicles started spectacularly failing crash tests.....READ MORE

We have also not seen the end of the introduction of the so-called, and often
snubbed at, Chinese products. And the surprising (really) thing about the latter is
that its products are becoming increasingly popular and equal to that of the established or more traditional manufacturers. Regular readers might still remember
some of my comments I shared after my test drives of JMC products which are available from Trade Auto in Mbombela....READ MORE

Regular readers will know JMC – or the Jailing Motor Corporation’s bakkies. We’ve had them here before as we watched the brand grow in every respect since the onset of Chinese bakkies to the South African market. The brand has grown in every respect in that time – eight or nine years ago, the first JMC bakkies were quite simply rejigged Isuzu bodies built under licence in China and like the rest, powered by old school Mitsubishi petrol engines It was an interesting time in the SA bakkie market – many greeted the China bakkies with mirth as a dozen never before heard of brands came, saw and… Well they mostly floundered. Three have survived though and all three now perhaps approach fulfilling the last in that hop, skip and jump to conquering that market niche they came and saw...READ MORE

The JMC was the only one that made it to the top while assisting other vehicles that were stuck in the snowGeorge Rademeyer

I'm the Fleet Manager for Star of Life Gauteng. We do a lot of maintance and route patrols for Sanral and the Goverment on the Highway's around the Province. Over the past 2 years we have built up our fleet to 14 JMC bakkies and trucks. Apart from the exceptional service we have been experiencing from JMC East Rand in Brakpan, we are also very impressed with the qaulity of the vehicle's. We do a lot of mileage. In fact, three of our vehicle's are approaching 200,000km's. We have never experienced any problems with these vehicle's which required repairs, only services. Some of these vehicle's run 24/7. Apart from the great service we have been experiencing from JMC East Rand in Brakpan, we are very impressed with the quality of vehicle's.Well done and thank you JMC East Rand. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!Fleet Manager for Star of Life Gauteng
